 I’m Katie, founder of Inner Peace Art Studio, and Calming Circles was one of the very first workshops I ever designed, and it’s still one of the most popular.  This workshop gives you a place to let some of that pressure out on the page, using watercolor or gouache as a calming, soothing stress-relief tool.

How We’ll Spend Our Time Together in This Guided Watercolor Experience 
In this Calming Circles watercolor intuitive and mindful painting workshop, we’ll explore three different circle-based painting practices and creative processes, each designed to support you when you're tight, tense, chaotic, and overwhelmed.

Enso Zen Buddhist

Calming Circles

We'll get grounded using watercolor, gouache, or ink (your choice), you'll learn a variation of simple meditative circles inspired by the Buddhist enso tradition. This practice is about presence, imperfection, and mindfulness in the moment.
Botanical Blooms
Calming Circles
Petal-inspired circles and gentle blooms painted slowly and intuitively. You'll learn how to let your brush do all the work in this soothing, nature-inspired practice for releasing stress, softening the nervous system, and letting hypnotizing botanicals flow.
Layer by Layer
Calming Circles
Using any and all art supplies, we'll create loose, intuitive circles that bleed, bloom, and overlap combined with sound healing music for the ultimate release. Layer by layer, you'll watch as our circles transform in this forgiving, playful process.
Calming Circles look cool, but the real magic is in the process.
You'll get deep into a flow state with my calming voice as I walk you through:

  • My favorite “soothing special sauce” recipes
  • How to create your own stress-relieving, meditative mark-making practice

Hi, I’m Katie — founder of Inner Peace Art Studio.

Calming Circles FAQs
  • Do I need specific art supplies or watercolor experience?
    No. You can use any supplies you already have — watercolors, gouache, ink, markers, colored pencils, crayons, or pens all work. No prior art or watercolor experience is required. I'll be be painting with watercolors and gouache, but i always give painting modifications for other supplies.
  • Is this art therapy or medical treatment?
    No. This is a mindful, intuitive painting workshop rooted in Arts in Health and Healing Art facilitation best practices. It is not art therapy or medical advice, and you’ll have full autonomy over your experience.
  • What if I’m low-energy, burned out, or dealing with chronic illness?
    This class is designed specifically for overstimulated, low-energy days. The practices are gentle, flexible, and forgiving, and you’re encouraged to participate at your own pace.
  • Will I be able to use this again after the workshop?
    Yes. You’ll learn repeatable calming circle techniques you can return to anytime you need grounding, stress relief, or a creative reset.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    Due to the digital nature of this live virtual workshop and immediate access to the app, materials, and replays, all sales are final and we do not offer cancellations or refunds. If you’re unable to attend live, you’ll receive access to the on-demand replay so you can participate at a time that works for you.
